Battelle Memorial Institute Network Engineer in Dayton, Ohio

Battelle is currently seeking a Network Engineer . This position is located in Wright-Patterson AFB (WPAFB), OH .


Battelle’s Advanced Mission Solutions (AMS) Business Line is seeking a Network Engineer to support comprehensive projects/programs in hardware/software/system/product life cycle development. With general direction, responsible for operational maintenance, support and upgrades for IT infrastructure. Performs complex installations and upgrades. Conducts audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies and configuration guidelines. Develops, implements and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules.

  • Performs infrastructure needs assessment and evaluates new technology to improve and maintain core and enterprise infrastructure.

  • Provides advanced day-to-day systems analysis and support for monitoring, troubleshooting, configuring, reporting, implementing, installing, and upgrading core infrastructure hardware, storage, software and/or server-based applications for regional and corporate offices on complex projects.

  • Provides advanced technical expertise, consulting, and support to staff members. Recommends appropriate actions to improve operations. Recommends and designs new monitoring strategies/software as appropriate.

  • Implements, installs, and upgrades operating systems, core infrastructure applications/hardware and/or server applications on various computing devices.

  • Engages external vendors when needed to solve complex problems or bugs

  • Acts as a key member of the Infrastructure Team by providing monitoring, investigation, and ongoing support to help maintain a high level of availability of systems.

  • Collaborate across internal organizations with multi-disciplined engineering teams to develop and execute operations.


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems or engineering field with at least 6 years of experience or master’s degree in computer information systems or engineering field with at least 4 years of professional experience.

  • Experience working with US DoD Program Management Offices.

  • Self-motivated, organized, and a problem solver who demonstrates knowledge of fundamentals but also the big picture.

  • Excellent communication skills to support interaction with cross-functional team members, internal management, and clients.

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active US Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance and the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET – Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS-SCI) DoD Security Clearance.

  • Experience managing local and remote networks.

  • Experience configuring and maintaining Cisco networking devices.

  • Directive 8570.1 Compliant Certification (ability to obtain within 6 months of employment)

  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems


  • An advanced degree in computer information systems or engineering.

  • Experience working with multi-organizational, geographically distributed, and segmented engineering teams.

  • Experience with unmanned platforms, payloads, and infrastructure.

  • Experience performing remote installations.

  • TS-SCI DoD Security Clearance.

  • Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information.
