Facility:Dayton Children's - Main CampusDepartment:Pediatric Critical Care TeamSchedule:Full timeHours:32Job Details:The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care using the standards of care and the standards of professional performance outlined by the American Nurses Association and the Ohio Board of Nursing. The RN interacts with an interdisciplinary team to promote the optimal health potential of the patient and family, delivering proficient nursing care based on a detailed assessment of the patient/family needs and the hospital mission. The RN promotes a patient and family experience-oriented environment and acts as a change agent to meet the rapidly changing census and needs of all customers-both internal and external.

Dedication to acquire Bachelors of Science in Nursing within 5 years of hire. Graduation from an accredited program of nursing. Registered Nursing license in State of Ohio.

Department Specific Job Details:

Provides all aspects of intravenous therapy services to patients within the inpatient and outpatient clinical setting. Care of the patient requires the ongoing assessment of patient’s needs related to vascular access devices. Performs and assists with invasive procedures as a component of care by assisting radiology with fluoroscopy insertion, surgery with surgical line placement, outpatient departments and clinics, in addition to inpatient services. Provides ongoing education to patients and families/significant others to improve patient outcomes and appropriately involves them in their care and care decisions. Provides education to new staff members during nursing core orientation. Provides education to all staff members as needed for new procedure, policy change or as requested by the departments. Delivers competent nursing care based on a documented assessment of the patient’s needs and the hospital’s mission. The IVT nurse functions in an autonomous roll and utilize excellent prioritizations and decision-making skills. Recognizes and advocates for each patient being an individual with unique health care needs and provides considerate, respectful care affirming the patient’s right to make decisions regarding his/her medical care. This position will collaborate with numerous physicians and within the hospital operations division.

FULL TIME DAY SHIFT 9a-9p with intermittent coverage of 7a-7p shift.
