BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Product Bid Support Specialist provides necessary technical data and support to sales professionals and customers for all cataloged and special order MRO/Production manufacturing products, regarding form, fit, function, composition and application on complex product lines. This position also supports the strategic bid process including all cross-referencing functions.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply knowledge of all customer service systems, procedures, customers, products, and processes to perform more complex and diverse assignments in support of the day-to-day customer service effort.

  • Provide technical assistance regarding all of products related to form, fit, function, composition, and application, in response to questions from sales professionals and customers.

  • Drive continual bid response improvements with cross-referencing support.

  • Responsible for SSG no-quote audit and feedback function on all SSG RFQs not filled by SSG Buyers.

  • Maintain open communication with the sales force on the status of RFQ’s.

  • Adhere to policies and procedures including meeting product tech and bid standards, maintaining specified metrics and service levels, improving quality service, maintaining professional and technical knowledge to accomplishing department goals.

  • Provide feedback and recommendations to Product Managers regarding product performance.

  • Provides product training to sales professionals, SSG Buyers and others in the organization; teams with Learning & Development on delivery and execution.

  • Sourcing of all received SSG samples that could not be immediately identified by SSG buyers.

  • Provide printed technical material upon request.

  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.

  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or the equivalent is required. Associate’s Degree is preferred.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in purchasing MRO and production manufacturing products, with experience in a specific commodity preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Proficiency in using spread sheet and word processing software (MS Word and Excel) required.

  • Must be a self-starter who is capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills required.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel occasionally are required.

  • This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (“ITAR”) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”).

Compensation starting at $40,810.00-$58,300.00 depending on experience.

The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
