Description
The safety of our children is of the utmost importance to Cross Safe, the community, and most importantly the parents. As a crossing guard for Cross Safe, you will be provided a truly unique and rewarding experience ensuring the safety of our children at crosswalks and intersections on all days school is in session.
We are seeking reliable and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Crossing Guard in Davenport, IA. The Crossing Guard plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of children and pedestrians at designated crossings near schools or other high-traffic areas. This position requires a responsible attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to maintain order and safety during busy periods. Shifts are from 7:05 am - 8:05 am in the morning and 2:40 pm - 3:10 pm in the afternoon.
Essential Functions:
Safely guide children and pedestrians across designated intersections or crosswalks.
Monitor traffic flow and wait for a safe gap in vehicles before signaling pedestrians to cross.
Use hand signals, stop paddles, and verbal commands to direct traffic when necessary.
Ensure compliance with traffic and safety regulations at all times.
Report any traffic violations or safety concerns to local law enforcement or school authorities.
Assist children and pedestrians in crossing streets during inclement weather or hazardous conditions.
Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with students, parents, and drivers.
Attend periodic training sessions and meetings related to crossing guard duties and safety protocols.
Work collaboratively with school officials, parents, and local authorities to enhance traffic safety awareness in the community.
Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience as a crossing guard or in a related field is advantageous.
Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Reliable and punctual with a commitment to ensuring the safety of children and pedestrians.
Ability to stand for extended periods and remain alert and attentive during duty hours.
Understanding of traffic laws and safety regulations.
Must pass a background check and drug screening.
