Job Summary
Assists in the maintenance of patient records, Organizational and administrative operation of the Health Information Management Department. Oversight responsibility for operational aspects of department as outlined by the HIM Director. Serves as an additional resource for faculty regarding medical record content and regulatory requirements. Serves as Acting Director of Health Information Management in the absence of the Director. Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort
Works in a typical office setting. May require working evening or weekend schedule. Exposure to a moderate amount of interruption and stressful situations, time restraints and deadlines. Ability to stand, bend, and stoop. The tasks of this job do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. on occasion.
Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents
Education: Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management or related field required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Experience: Previous related operational and supervisory experience preferred. Minimum of two to four (2-4) years experience in Health Information Management preferred.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Computer skills with thorough knowledge of hardware, software programs, specialized printers, copier, project management skills. Works with minimum supervision; independent judgment will be required.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations
RHIT credential required, RHIA preferred.
