  • Job Summary

  • Under the general supervision of the Systems Director of Pharmacy and a registered Pharmacist, performs a variety of duties essential to the purchasing, preparation, distribution and charging of medications. Must be able to perform functions required in the unit dose area and IV Room. Must be able to perform functions related to maintaining Omnicell Supply Cabinets and pharmacy related to technology.   • Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort

  • Schedule includes daily shifts Monday through Friday during clinic operating hours. Must be attentive to detail. Stress from deadlines strict regulations, and multi-tasking. Prolonged stationary position or moving around the units. Regular moving of supplies/equipment up to 25 pounds. Involves use of syringe/needle manipulations for preparation of hazardous and intravenous therapies. Involves the handling, preparation, and disposal of hazardous medications that could pose reproductive risks to those of child bearing age. The tasks of this job do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing supplemental tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently. Involves the handling, preparation, and disposal of hazardous medications that could pose reproductive risks to those of child bearing age.

  • Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents

  • Education: High School graduate or equivalent are required. Must maintain required 20 bi-annual hours of CEUs for continued PTCB certification. Must possess chemotherapy preparation certification upon hire or within first 30 days of hire. Completion of Pharmacy Tech training or Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in applicable Health Science Program is preferred.

  • Experience: One (1) year hospital pharmacy technician experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired. Sterile compounding experience is required with some experience in the handling of hazardous compounds being preferred. Basic algebra skills required to perform pharmaceutical calculations.

  • EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Typing skills and computer experience required.

  • Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations

  • KY Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration required. Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) required.
