CityVet IT Software Engineer in Dallas, United States

JOB SUMMARY

The position of Software Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications and systems at CityVet. This work will include our enterprise reporting system, communications, internal websites, and integrations between systems. Working alongside the Vice President of Technology, responsibilities will include analyzing business requirements and designing software to meet those needs, then implementing those designs through internal and external resources.

The Software Engineer will focus on bringing new technologies to bear and implementing automation processes to support growth and expansion, reduce labor, and maintain the performance levels of the IT systems and software. This position includes the ability to use skills from a variety of areas including those of a Software Engineer, a full stack Developer, and a Project Manager.

It is the responsibility of the Software Engineer to work with members of the Leadership Team, Technology Team, Vendors, interdepartmental connections, and the Vice President of Technology to find solutions for technology-related problems, questions, and inquiries. The engineer position will have a large impact on the overall goals and agendas of day-to-day technology operations, as well as growth and development initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

· Analyzing business requirements of our locations and headquarters’ staff and developing software and solutions to meet those needs.

· Coding and software development as needed for projects and maintenance.

· Creating and gathering specifications and business rules needed for software design.

· Develop and implement testing plans.

· Coordinating with and managing external programming resources including specifications, designs, quality control, and timelines.

· Position involves some after-hours and weekend time (support and project work including interfacing with overseas resources).

· Reports and takes direction directly from the Vice President of Technology.

· Experience with quality assurance of technical processes and procedures

· Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks

· Extremely web, internet, and “app” savvy

· Strong knowledge of Python, JavaScript, and SQL

· Working knowledge of Perl and Apache

· Linux command line interface skills

· Knowledge of IT networking, IP structure, web, systems architecture, and standards

· Strong knowledge of Excel, Google Sheets, and documentation processes

· Strong math skills

· Strong verbal and written communication abilities

· Maturity, good judgment, and professional demeanor

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS (DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED)

· Working knowledge of PHP and/or React Native

· Experience integrating with APIs

· Experience with NetSuite, Trumpia, Twilio, SendGrid, WordPress, Miro

REQUIREMENTS

· 3+ years’ experience working with technology, personnel management, and project management

· Reliable transportation for travel to and from DFW area clinics

· Ability to lift 50 lbs. to waist height occasionally

· Occasional bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching

· At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
