This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Transit and Rail Signal Engineer II for our Minneapolis, MN office. The following locations will also be considered: US-IL-Chicago, US-MN-Duluth, US-MN-Golden Valley, US-MN-Minneapolis, and Dallas Texas. Be involved in projects with our Transit & Rail Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
Oversight and management of various rail signal projects
Ability to coordinate with clients and rail project partners
Technical planning, design, and testing of rail signal Infrastructure
Strong understanding of Federal Railroad Administration 234 and 236 requirements for project implementation
Collaborate with other engineers, planners, scientific professionals, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.
Remain current in latest transit and rail engineering techniques and practices.
Participate in WSP’s quality process for all deliverables.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to
WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
Minimum 7 years of relevant post education experience in engineering, transit, and rail experience.
Proficient with transit and freight/ commuter railroad engineering principles, practices, processes, and standards on major infrastructure projects, particularly railway and rail transit civil works, at- grade crossings, transit stations, bridges, and elevated structures.
Experience with rail signaling projects for transit agencies and freight/ commuter railroad companies.
Experience working with AutoCAD and MicroStation design environments
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineering license or the ability to obtain one in 6 months.
Design and construction experience with transit and freight railroad signaling for train control and grade crossings
Ability to travel up to 25%
