The opportunity

You'll provide the highest level of talent consultation within a specific population of professionals while leading change initiatives around HR programs and processes. Our leaders will look to you to provide strategic consultation that will allow them to drive results. As a trusted advisor, you'll be part of the leadership team, translating the business strategy into talent solutions. You'll also be responsible for the development of a team of Talent Consultants to ensure they have the knowledge, skills and opportunities they need to grow.

Your key responsibilities

The Strategic Talent Consultant (STC) has overall talent leadership responsibility for National Business Consulting’s Business Transformation and Service Delivery Centers (SDCs), working in close partnership with the leadership and National Consulting Talent Leader. In this role, you’ll advise leadership on all talent matters impacting the sub-service line (SSL) including but not limited to:

  • Development and execution of the overall talent strategy for the SSL

  • Direction and accountability for all talent processes focusing on PPMDs including: PPMD promotions, pipeline, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), performance management and MD compensation

  • Support of all PPMD ER/investigative matters in alignment with Talent Leadership and the Employee Investigations Team

  • Leading special projects and initiatives as assigned

The STC will lead a team of Talent Consultants in advising their assigned business groups on all talent-related matters including but not limited to:

  • Oversight and accountability for all employee relations/investigative matters involving employees below PPMD rank

  • Oversight and accountability for all talent processes focusing on employees below PPMD rank including promotions, DEI, performance management, talent reviews, development and compensation planning

The STC will provide coaching, guidance and support to the assigned Talent Consultant team, supporting the development, engagement and well-being of all team members

Skills and attributes for success

  • Advanced interpersonal skills to engage senior leaders in a matrixed, geographically dispersed organization and to build a solid network of people of influence. Ability to leverage these relationships to manage expectations, challenge insightfully and influence thinking

  • Experience leading highly complex employee relations, conflict resolution, arbitration/mediation and risk mitigation skills. Advanced knowledge of HR employment law and practices

  • Experience leading and developing diverse teams, providing coaching and guidance, and supporting the engagement and well-being of all team members

  • Experience working across different geographies for an international organization across a broad spectrum of people & cultures and has an appreciation of global mindset in a global environment

  • Strong consultative skills to conduct effective questioning, hone in on key issues to gather appropriate information, formulate & present ideas clearly and concisely to all levels of the organization. Proposes all options and suggestions based on a solid understanding of people principles, firm and business objectives and needs analysis

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across the organization including with the Development Consultant team, Experience Management, Recruiting, WFP, Visa & Immigration and all Centers of Excellence to further the talent agenda and continue to build an exceptional experience for our employees

  • Strong analytical & problem-solving ability to escalate & negotiate complex, conflicting issues, handle multiple shifting priorities across a broad spectrum of people & cultures & to drive both decisions & solutions that are commercially sound & aligned to objectives.

  • Advanced oral, presentation and written communication skills. Exhibits ability to adapt communication style to the style of others, developing rapport & staying calm under pressure

  • Solid understanding of change management, and proven ability to initiate change management initiatives and lead clients/teams through significant change.

  • Strong business acumen

  • Strong project management, organizational skills and attention to detail as well as demonstrated ability to think big picture (strategic and conceptual thinking skills)

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • 10-plus years of experience across multiple Talent disciplines including employee relations, performance management, career development and employee engagement as well as advising senior business leaders on all of these topics.

  • A broad knowledge of HR laws, regulations, processes and leading practices

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Society for Human Resource Management certification
