  • This job is a member of the Corporate Real Estate Team within the Corporate Affairs Division

  • Responsible for the design and construction management oversight of Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) at multiple Domestic and International locations in strict accordance with approved corporate space standards, schedules, and budgets that meet all requirements of the user groups

  • Supports AA operations directly to improve AA mishandled baggage rates

  • Represents the CRE Team and AA to both inside and outside parties

What you'll do

  • Develop project scope and/or definition documents

  • Work with multiple user groups and internal departments to establish project program

  • Prepare and manage procurement process for projects

  • Create internal funding documents and consultant service request forms

  • Create project estimates, budgets and schedules

  • Create design and construction Requests for Proposal

  • Oversee technical direction of project architects, engineers and consultants involved in assigned projects to ensure that all program requirements are meet within budget and time constraints

  • Provide written and verbal project status reports

  • Work with TSA, understand TSA regulations and guidelines

  • Work with AA operations to improve MBR

  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans

  • Travel as needed for projects

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management

  • Prior experience in design, planning, development, and management of BHS construction projects

  • Working knowledge of BHS and airport infrastructure

Preferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Prior experience in aviation construction and facilities development

  • 10 years of experience in BHS project management

  • In-depth technical knowledge BHS technologies, including conveyance systems, tracking technologies and screening systems

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Knowledge of architectural and engineering construction documents, contracts

  • Ability to think strategically and understand the business need for each project

  • Ability to make ongoing decisions based on the best results for the company

  • Ability to anticipate upcoming problems and avoid them to preserve project's intent, schedule, and budget

  • Ability to handle large and complex projects requiring multi phased approach and or projects that are fast-tracked

  • Ability to work with diversified user groups

  • Ability to manage direct reports and lead project teams to achieve goals

  • Creativity and innovation
