Historically, the travel requirement for this position has ranged from 80-100%. KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Specilaist to join our Advisory Services (https://advisory.kpmg.us/) practice.
Conduct compliance coding reviews of medical records and supporting documentation against submitted claims, for individual provider and facility claims, to determine coding and billing accurate for all services and/or specialties
Research and interpret coding guidelines and client抯 internal coding policies and procedures to verify claim coding accuracy
Serve as a coding resource and provide coding expertise and guidance to the broader Forensics team
Maintain an active coding certification(s) and remain current on regulatory and coding guidelines
Observe and report opportunities for documentation improvements
Identify documentation trends and topics for education/feedback
Ensure work product and related deliverables are performed in accordance with established standards and engagement requirements to meet client and firm expectation
Develop and sustain solid relationships with client personnel and demonstrate the ability to identify additional opportunities with existing clients; identify and communicate technical matters while serving as a liaison to both clients and engagement leadership; participate and/or lead meetings with both clients and the engagement team
Minimum seven years of recent medical coding experience both inpatient and outpatient Certified after examination by a nationally recognized accrediting agency for medical coding (i.e., AHIMA or AAPC) and/or risk adjustment
Experience working with national guidelines such as CPT codes, ICD-10, HCPCS codes, POS codes, DRGs, APCs, and other code sets and the translation of written clinical information
Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and comfortable with technology
Familiarity with web-based audit tools is preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to clearly articulate findings
Deep background in medical billing, coding or auditing of insurance claims and medical records
Must be self-motivated, responsive and committed to communicating and collaborating with the engagement team on a regular basis to foster a common understanding of team objectives
