Day Surgery Rate: $48/hour plus applicable shift differentials

Job Summary and Qualifications

Seasonal Program Requirements – Seasonal PRN Status with a Full-Time Schedule – Program Runs 8/25/24-4/5/25

  • All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period

  • Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need

  • Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period

  • During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee)

  • Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital

  • Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy

  • Seasonal Staff willnotbe eligible for extra shift bonuses

  • Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation

  • Current FT/PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligibleto join the Seasonal program for 2024-2025 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year

  • Current employees of HWS arenot eligiblefor the seasonal program

  • Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department

What will you do in this role:

  • Determine the predictable or unpredictable health status and health needs of patients (individual and family) through interpretation of health data and preventive practice in collaboration with patients and interdisciplinary health care team members

  • Utilize a systematic approach to provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient

  • Formulate a nursing care plan based on determination of nursing diagnoses and identified problems

  • Implement nursing care within the RN’s scope of practice, including compliance with other laws that apply to the practice setting

  • Develop and implement teaching plans for patients concerning promotion, maintenance and restoration of health

  • Provide education, emotional support and age specific care to foster a partnership with the patient and significant others

  • Provide for the care of multiple patients (individual and family) either through direct care or assignment and/or delegation of care to other members of the healthcare team

  • Perform PAT calls to patients, print orders from PODS system, create patient charts

  • Evaluate the patient’s (individual and family) responses and outcomes to therapeutic interventions

  • Use critical thinking approach to analyze clinical data and current literature as a basis for decision making in nursing practice

  • Monitors all patients for airway and pain management pre, post and peri- operatively

  • Proficient in interpretation of EKG, lab values and timely reporting to licensed independent practitioner

  • Participate in Day Surgery specific initiatives and process improvement

  • Promote a supportive Day Surgery environment

  • Provide supervision of new employees, patient care techs, student nurses and/or nurse externs

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing

  • If hired after 6/1/12, BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position

  • Minimum two years critical care preferred

  • Adult Pre-Op, Emergency Department, or PACU experience preferred
