Responsibilities
The Department of Rehabilitation Research at Baylor Scott & White (BSW) Institute for Rehabilitation has an opening for a full-time (40 hours/week) Research Physical Therapist starting in early 2025. Under the direction of Chad Swank, PT, PhD, the department is studying the role of technology in neurorehabilitation settings. Our current focus is to understand the use of robotic exoskeletons and neuromodulation (VNS, tDCS, and TMS) approaches in people after neurologic injury including stroke, TBI, and SCI. The Research Physical Therapist will specifically focus on delivering therapeutic interventions after stroke, TBI, and SCI. Research will involve use of overground robotic exoskeletons and delivery of neuromodulation to study the to augment recovery of function.
The Research Physical Therapist will also be expected to contribute to the current line of work through assisting with dissemination efforts including conference presentations and manuscript submissions. This position offers a competitive salary.
BSW Institute for Rehabilitation is nationally known for its clinical practice and research in neurorehabilitation. Recognized by NIDILRR as a model systems center for both traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury, BSW engages high quality clinical care and actively executes research projects funded by NIDILRR, DoD, PCORI, NIH, and various Foundations. The current position is funded through grant support by NIDILRR, DoD, and NIH. The Research Physical Therapist will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of neurorehabilitation projects under the direction of the Department of Rehabilitation Research.
Qualifications
Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist required.
Applicants with substantial interest and experience in robotic exoskeletons; and a strong record of research participation, preferred.
Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required.
