Your Impact

This team is accountable for platform architecture evolution to meet the evolving needs of different business lines globally with rapid software deployment. As stewards of critical components in order execution and post-trade, the team is accountable for a high degree of software quality. The team consists of self-guided pragmatic individuals who are motivated to change the status quo in calculated ways.

As a member of the team, you will play an integral role on the trading floor. The team takes a data driven approach to decision making and you should be willing to participate in the full product lifecycle from requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, support, and monitoring trading performance for systems and strategies used by our clients.

The Global Markets Division (GMD) requires a UX Designer to join the Supervisory Uplift programme to create a new state-of-the-art Operating Risk Management and Controls platform for its Front Office Sales and Trading teams.

The programme is tasked with delivering significant business impact, putting the firm ahead of the rest of the street, by creating a high-tech central platform to streamline controls management and execution and, operating risk management and monitoring.

The platform will be used by individual traders and sales persons, desk supervisors and head, all the way up to the most senior of risk management teams. In addition to the extensive use by the first line of defence, the platform will also meet the needs of the second and third lines of defence(i.e. Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit etc.)as well as external regulators and audit teams.

The delivery team is growing fast and the programme has been selected as one of the CIO's top 5 flagship initiatives for GMD making it one of the firm's most strategic initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Job Summary

You will report to the programme UX lead and be responsible for successfully delivering the UX of key parts of the platform's 4 experience hubs: Risks; Controls; Intelligence; Governance.

  • Collaborate with business teams, product managers and engineers to identify product features and functionality, define problem statement & user goals, map user flows.

  • Produce wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and production quality designs that effectively communicate design directions

  • Manage design reviews with all relevant stakeholders to iterate on designs

  • Collaborate closely with the engineering team and be a tight knit part of the agile development process

  • Understand the success of your designs through user testing and other research methods and metrics

    You will be part of the Global Markets Division's engineering team and work closely with the firm's Core UX Design team(part of the Goldman Sachs Digital Strategy Group)that delivers great products that satisfy the firm’s business needs and achieve adoption.

    The core design team has expertise in user research, interaction design, visual design, and front-end development. They act as a partner to business and technology teams to create applications that are easy to use, engaging, powerful, and competitive.

    UX Designers at Goldman Sachs get involved right across the design process – from engaging with stakeholders & working out what to build, to collaborating with highly skilled user researchers, business analysts, products managers and some of the world’s best engineers to design and refine product concepts, seeing them through into production.

    You’ll be adept at communicating with a variety of different stakeholders and able to convey ideas effectively to those audiences. Your passion for design and innovation will be infectious and you’ll be able to demonstrate how you balance innovation & creative thinking with tight business constraints to provide solutions that drive real business value.

    Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in product, interaction, or user experience design OR Master’s degree in design, human factors, Industrial design, or related fields

  • Design experience with data intensive and transaction-oriented applications

  • Demonstrated ability to design using a design language to brand a digital experience

  • Demonstrated ability to build interactive prototypes

  • Experience with user centered design processes and principles

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Domain expertise in the financial sector

  • Proven experience designing interactive applications that have been developed and achieved great user adoption

  • Experience with interaction design and using a user centered design process

  • Practical understanding of the technologies used to build rich web, desktop, and mobile apps

  • Self-motivated and self-managed with a high degree of analytical ability and intellectual curiosity
