Sabre Principal Accountant in Dallas, Texas

As part of a large global accounting team, the Principal Accountant will play an essential role in leading and maintaining accounting processes, policy, and internal control environments for corporate activities and global accounting initiatives. This position offers exposure to many aspects of Corporate and global accounting at Sabre including Blackline management, lease accounting, benefits and pension accounting, foreign currency accounting, and consolidations as well as project-based activities. You will have the opportunity to interact with a broad and diverse group of stakeholders that includes Treasury, Finance, Human Resources, Global Business Systems, Internal Audit, and External Audit. You will report to the Director of Corporate Accounting and Collections.

Responsibilities of Principal Accountant:

  • Perform lease accounting under ASC 842 including maintaining lease schedules, reconciliations and entries

  • Ensure Sabre’s US/Canada employee benefit plans, pensions, and compensation are appropriately accounted for; liaise with human resource and finance stakeholders

  • Perform foreign exchange (FX) activities including policy updates, initiate and validate monthly FX remeasurement / translation results, maintain SAP FX configuration documentation, become subject matter expert providing advice on FX concerns/issues and control owner of FX process

  • Manage the global accounting reconciliation process utilizing Blackline, maintain reconciliation policy, and ensure an adequate reconciliation process through analysis and controls

  • Perform month-end close duties preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts and resolving related issues

  • Maintain Sabre’s consolidation process, utilizing HFM tool, become subject matter expert on Sabre’s consolidation logic

  • Perform intercompany (I/C) accounting activities including policy updates and preparing / posting I/C entries related to special projects

  • Contribute to the quarterly balance sheet fluctuation analysis for areas of responsibility

  • Work with stakeholder organizations regarding compliance with internal control over financial reporting and other compliance initiatives

  • Drive improvements to areas of oversight/responsibility that are prevalent across the stakeholder organizations

  • Participate as a stakeholder and subject matter expert in new system implementations for areas of responsibility

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting required

  • CPA license preferred

Experience & Skills:

  • Five (5) or more years of accounting experience; combination of experience with a large accounting firm and industry is preferred

  • Strong experience with public company compliance requirements

  • Understanding of US GAAP, consolidations and SEC rules/regulations as well as related reporting requirements

  • Strong ability to implement and improve processes

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to continually prioritize workload and respond to top priorities with a sense of urgency

  • Strong project management and oversight skills within the accounting function

  • Detail-oriented with both the ambition and willingness to dive into the details necessary to accomplish responsibilities and solve problems

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with SAP and HFM preferred
