Job Description:

A postdoctoral positions in MOF synthesis is available in the laboratory of Jeremiah Gassensmith in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Texas at Dallas. The candidates are expected to conduct research focused on (a) biomimetic mineralization of living organisms using metal-organic frameworks (b) preparation of new MOFs that synergistically work with the immune system. Projects involve MOF synthesis, method development, in vitro culture of viral, fungan, and bactrerial pathogens, and screening of new MOF syntheses to develop novel MOF formulations.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious scientist with an established background in Organic, Bioorganic Chemistry and/or Medicinal Chemistry, who are interested to work at the interface of chemistry and biology within a highly interactive and motivated group of colleagues.

The ideal candidates have a PhD degree in Chemistry or related field, strong synthetic chemistry skills, excellent communication skills, and a proven record of scientific accomplishments. Prior experience with bacterial, fungal, or viral agents and molecular biology techniques is a plus but not required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D in a related field.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or related field.

  • Experience in organic and/or inorganic chemistry, methodology development, and/or medicinal chemistry. Prior experience with pathogenic organisms and molecular biology techniques is desirable but not required.
