Historically, the travel requirement for this position has ranged from 80-100%. KPMG is currently seeking a Manager/Director in Risk Strategy & Compliance - FS Regulartory & Compliance for our Consulting (https://advisory.kpmg.us/) practice.


  • Assist financial services clients (traditional and non-bank) with assessing enterprise-wide compliance, including compliance risk management programs as well as targeted regulations and requirements, such as: Fair Lending, Community Reinvestment Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Unfair Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP) and other of the federal consumer regulatory guidance

  • Fully comprehend, adapt quickly, and deploy a variety of problem-solving approaches; facilitate critical thinking of the team, draw out meaningful insight, and incorporate them into broader solution

  • Establish and communicate vision, goals, and expectations of the team for high-quality product and service; communicate complex topics in easily understandable language; leverage strong written communication skills in order to provide meaningful recommendations to clients (e.g., in reports, presentation)

  • Develop structured and detailed work plans that enable monitoring of project activities and deliverables; schedule, plan, assign, and provide direction and review the work of the team members working on assigned engagements

  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff by impacting knowledge, skills, and experience

  • Contribute to industry and regulatory publications, write professional articles, and speak about current compliance issues at external seminars; proactively participate in consumer compliance regulatory business development efforts for primary target clients

Additional Responsibilities for Director:

  • Lead business development efforts for primary target clients; Serve as a 'senior voice' on the team in client interactions

  • Has full command of industry/functional best practice and can relate these to specific internal and client challenges

  • Ensure engagement team is appropriately staffed and balances project needs with practice needs to train/develop resources; serve as a leader in recruiting and retention efforts to develop the practice


  • A minimum of five years of recent and applicable consumer compliance regulatory work experience in more than one of the following areas: enterprise wide compliance, privacy and customer information security, fair lending, CRA, compliance risk management programs, and UDAAP

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university

  • Previous experience leading teams, managing projects, and accustomed to taking an active role in executing engagements

  • Demonstrated track record of client service and business development

  • Possess exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to gain the confidence and respect of senior executives

  • Ability to travel up to 80-100%

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future

Additional Qualifications for Director:

  • A minimum of eight years of recent and applicable consumer compliance regulatory work experience in more than one of the following areas: enterprise wide compliance, privacy and customer information security, fair lending, CRA, compliance risk management programs, and UDAAP

  • Progressive experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and complex projects

  • Possess strong client service and client management skills, and a demonstrated track record of driving business development efforts in an advisory environment
