Robert Half Legal Secretary in Dallas, Texas

Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Legal Secretary based in Dallas, Texas. This role is within the commercial litigation sector, providing administrative and clerical support to attorneys and law firms. The successful candidate will have a key role in handling legal disputes related to contractual matters, business transactions, intellectual property, real estate, and other commercial issues.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the drafting and formatting of legal documents, ensuring they meet court standards and deadlines.

• Responsible for filing legal documents with the appropriate courts and ensuring all filings are accurate and on time.

• Manage attorney schedules, court dates, hearings, and deadlines, providing reminders to ensure no important dates are missed.

• Interact with clients to schedule appointments, provide updates on case progress, and relay messages between clients and attorneys.

• Conduct legal research using online databases, library resources, or other tools to gather information relevant to cases.

• Handle phone calls, emails, and other forms of communication, prioritizing incoming messages for attorneys.

• Assist in tracking billable hours and preparing invoices for clients.

• Organize and maintain physical and digital case files, ensuring all documents are easily accessible and secure.

• Perform general office tasks such as photocopying, scanning, faxing, and data entry, and assist in managing office supplies and equipment.

• Utilize proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suites, Microsoft Outlook, and other relevant software for managing documents and tracking case developments. Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suites, and Microsoft Outlook

• Familiarity with billing functions

• Experience in managing calendars and scheduling appointments

• Capable of taking dictation and transcribing information

• Strong skills in creating and maintaining documentation

• Prior experience in a legal secretary role is beneficial

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

• Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment

• Capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
