Description
The TI law department seeks to add a mid-level litigation attorney to its current team.
In this role your responsibilities will include:
Driving all aspects of litigation discovery efforts from developing discovery plans to identification of relevant data sources, to collection, review, and production of materials
Evaluating and responding to subpoenas
Accurately evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of all aspects of adverse claims and litigation matters
Ascertaining which matters require outside counsel and actively participating in selection, retention, management and evaluation of such outside counsel
Handling matters internally that do not require outside resources
Providing on-going case updates to Law Department and company management
Preparing and maintaining budgets for litigation matters
Drafting and reviewing litigation documents, including discovery requests and responses, pleadings, motions, pre-trial and trial materials
Preparing witnesses for testimony at deposition, hearings, and trial
Representing TI in various mediation and other dispute resolution proceedings
Monitoring significant changes to laws, precedents, policies, rules, and procedures in regions and jurisdictions where TI operates or litigates and understanding how those changes may impact TI’s interests
Monitoring and reporting on other impactful developments in the litigation landscape
The litigation attorney role at TI is not simply tasked with management of outside counsel. The successful candidate will be an active participant in and contributor to each litigation from strategic planning to daily litigation tasks (such as developing discovery plans) to coordination of TI’s internal human and IT resources (document collection as well as development of facts and evidence to support TI’s claims and defenses). The successful candidate may even appear as an attorney of record in appropriate litigation matters to handle depositions, etc.
Applicant must possess exceptional base legal skills, in terms of logical analysis and persuasive writing. In addition, Applicant must possess excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and judgment to advise effectively at all levels of the organization, including advice to peers, engineering staff, and senior managers. Applicant must be a team player willing to provide cross-functional support and cover for other team members. Applicant must be a self-starter, able to exercise initiative and judgment to work effectively with minimal supervision. Applicant must possess strong project management skills, able to manage multiple matters in parallel, to formulate and execute clear, step-by-step plans, and to choreograph a constellation of moving parts to achieve a unified result. Most importantly, Applicant must be a problem solver, understanding the purpose and objective of any delegated activity to formulate solutions or alternatives to obstacles encountered along the way.
The ideal candidate will have 3 years of litigation experience, with exposure to patent or other intellectual property disputes. Varied experience in state, federal, and administrative courts is also desirable. Candidates must be admitted to a state legal bar (preferably Texas). The position requires the majority of your time to be in the Dallas office.

Law degree
License to practice law in the state of Texas
3 years of relevant experience
