  • Providing internal leadership and occasional training within the Institute in areas of technical knowledge as well as non-technical topics such as opportunity development and knowledge transfer

  • Assisting applications manager and operations coordinator in managing workflows and refining operational processes

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to partner with clients to develop solutions as well as engage internal teams within the Institute (both R&D and operations) to ensure timely delivery

  • Personnel Development – have a strong interest in professional development for technical staff (both engineering and non-engineering skillsets) and must be passionate about developing new staff into capable solutions developers

  • Business acumen – must have an understanding of basic business concepts and be able to develop cost estimates, evaluate financial health of new and existing opportunities, and be able to assist the applications manager in ascertaining and communicating the financial health of the business

  • Broad technical understanding of the power system – must have at least a basic understanding of multiple fundamental areas within the sector (e.g. resource planning, transmission and distribution operations and planning, energy storage, DER integration) Must also be able to engage technical SME’s with deeper understanding when needed and know how to effectively leverage their expertise.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required

  • Masters or PhD in technical field preferred

  • Previous experience leading or managing a team

  • 8-12 years of professional experience
