Job Description:

This position serves as the project manager for the annual Academic-related ceremonies, including Convocation, School Commencement Ceremonies and Faculty Investiture. This position provides event support for all University Events and other presidential and development events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related field and three plus years relevant professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Minimum of four years of experience in event planning and coordination

  • Experience in a university, education, or non-profit environment preferred

  • Experience planning academic ceremonies preferred

  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices and procedures of event planning

  • Excellent interpersonal skills as a team player; an active listener; at ease with a wide range of donors, University constituents, and backgrounds.Desire to work in a service-oriented environment

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Flexible to work evenings and weekends, as needed, in support of events

  • Proven abilities to handle discreet and confidential information

  • Proven abilities in organizational, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills; strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills essential

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment

  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player
