Description
Robert Half Finance and Accounting and Kevin Sweet have an exclusive partnership with a national real estate development organization for an Accounting Manager position. This position will work closely with the Corporate Controller who is an amazing leader that thrives on coaching, mentoring and developing his accounting team! As an Accounting Manager you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the financial operations for a team of portfolio accountants within the real estate development group. You will work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of financial data, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and effective management of accounting processes related to real estate transactions, property management, and investor reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate properties and entities. Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and industry-specific accounting standards.
Oversee accounting processes for property acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, operating expenses, capital expenditures, and property management activities.
Manage the preparation and review of draw requests for development projects, including ensuring all costs and documentation are accurate and in compliance with project budgets, lender requirements, and construction loan agreements.
Manage cash flow for multiple properties and ensure timely and accurate invoicing and collections.
Assist in preparing annual budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analysis for real estate assets and development projects.
Ensure strong internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
Assist in the preparation of audit materials and work with external auditors during the annual audit process.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA or parts passed is highly preferred
5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a real estate accounting or finance role.
In-depth knowledge of real estate accounting practices, including property acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, property management, and development draw processes.
Experience in managing construction loan draws, tracking development costs, and collaborating with project management teams on construction progress.
Proficient in Excel and exposure to Yardi or MRI is highly preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to lead and motivate a team, while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional departments.
Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the Financial Services industry
• Proficiency in Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience in Auditing is required
• University Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is mandatory
• CPA certification or eligibility is a must
• Familiarity with MRI and Yardi software is expected
• Experience in Month-end Close Activities is necessary
• Ability to Analyze Financial Statements and perform Financial Statement Preparation
• Expertise in Budgeting, Cash Management, and Cash Forecasting is crucial
• Experience in Analyzing Variance and performing Variance Analysis is needed
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations essential.
