At Polk Mechanical HVAC Chiller Technician provides HVAC services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading HVAC systems and equipment; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that tools and materials are available at the job site
Job Description

Troubleshoot technical problems ensuring all failed components are identified
Have working knowledge of air- and water-cooled HVAC equipment
Perform service on VFD’s and various types of starters
Be able to troubleshoot hydronic systems, including system pumps and water balance issues
Able to troubleshoot cooling towers and evaporative condensers
Have general working knowledge of York, Trane, and Carrier microprocessors
Willing to assist dispatch with all service calls when customer demand is high
Professionally communicate with customers and company office personnel
Ensure all paperwork is complete and turned in daily
Work independently by setting and meeting goals
Accept and perform given tasks with ownership and a sense of urgency
Willing and able to travel to customer locations in the greater area
Abide by safety rules and regulations, including courteous and defensive driving
Maintain a flexible work schedule
Requirements
MINIMUM 8+ YEARS EXPERIENCE providing professional services in the HVAC industry on water-cooled and air-cooled chillers.
Refrigerant system skills including refrigerant piping installation, evacuation, and charging of all refrigerant type systems.
Experience in starting and commissioning HVAC equipment such as chillers, pumps, and AHU’s.
Familiarity with instruments and the ability to acquire information such as static pressure, voltage, amperage, GPM, etc.
Strong mechanical skills, such as the ability to use micrometers, measure tight tolerances, able to remove bearings, hubs, and couplings.
Universal License (EPA) is necessary for handling and installing refrigerant
Knowledge and skills are necessary to perform routine maintenance such as refrigerant filters, oil samples, tube brushing, rebuilding contractors, changing motors, repairing compressors, etc.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software, and ability to use a laptop in the field to interface with microprocessors on large equipment.
Understanding of electrical systems including wiring, control panels, and end devices.
Clean driving record
Valid driver’s license
