Description

APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes, including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination. Apply, implement and analyze manufacturing data collection systems to support manufacturing process improvements in a high-volume discrete production environment. Recommend, specify and design data collection methodologies for uncharacterized processes ( unrecognized methodology in the Apple eco-system) using existing or novel infrastructure as the production situation warrants. Develop proof of concept machine vision software in Python to support effective machine vision qualification. Specify, develop, and support the hardware and software for novel machine vision inspection tools such as distributed computer vision tools to automatically confirm continuously varying custom engravings. Engage with Apple’s Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Technical Program Management teams to identify gaps and opportunities to improve manufacturing performance and readiness through data collection and analytics. Leverage manufacturing data to build novel analytics using machine learning and traditional data science to proactively identify manufacturing concerns and avoid defects. Troubleshoot data collection systems, internally written manufacturing support tools and respective manufacturing automation using data analysis and knowledge of automation in a production setting. Support Contract Manufacturers, System Integrators, and Apple teams during on-boarding and implementation of aforementioned systems through troubleshooting, training, creation of documentation and recommended system changes. International Travel Required 20%. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $162,344 - $227,600/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Robotic Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.

  • 5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:

  • Specifying data collection needs and analyzing data from a production environment to drive improvements in the production process.

  • 4 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:

  • Structured programming experience to perform data analysis, engineering analysis, and task automation.

  • 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:

  • Specifying machine vision hardware, including cameras, lenses, and lighting, in a production environment to enable optical inspection.

  • Applying Machine Learning to vision-related tasks (e.g., object detection) in a production setting with personal engagement in model development, training, and inference using Tensorflow or PyTorch.

  • Using Python for data analysis, task automation, computer vision and machine learning.

  • Performing automation control with PLC/IPC in a production facility to support troubleshooting and development activities on automated manufacturing equipment.

  • Performing manufacturing process control by designing or specifying control systems in automated equipment supporting a manufacturing environment.

  • Working with commercial Machine Vision software and hardware vendors in a production setting to understand the availability and limitations of off-the-shelf solutions.

  • Leveraging open-source vision libraries such as OpenCV to implement custom Machine Vision code.

  • Using Principles of Machine Vision to perform integrated quality judgement or measurement in automated equipment used for industrial production.
