The Principal, People Operations, Programs, and Strategy, will build and manage a portfolio of complex change management, large-scale event, and implementation projects. The portfolio and customers will vary based on high-priority needs that are identified by Entertainment PXT senior leadership.

This individual contributor role requires someone with Human Resources (HR) and project leadership expertise. This person should feel comfortable navigating ambiguity, leading by influence, and maintaining an executive presence with stakeholders at various levels. Also, the person should be able to make high-judgment decisions, evaluate risks and tradeoffs, and prioritize and adapt quickly. This is someone people want to work with and trust to lead them to critical goals on time, as scoped, within budget, and without unnecessary churn.

The person in this job will work with PXT, business, center of excellence, and central teams to define customer requirements, design work plans, build communication strategies, and ease people through change. It needs an innovative thinker and consultant, with the know-how to balance technology capabilities, PXT policy and procedures, available resources, and business needs.

Key job responsibilities

• Lead complex work requiring independent research and interpretation of processes, policies, and resources

• Set success strategy and govern a portfolio of cross-functional, cross-regional projects and initiatives, including:

o Ensuring robust and clear customer requirements, milestones, change management, and communication strategies

o Anticipating, identifying, and removing barriers and obstacles

o Serving as an escalation point, ensuring root cause analysis and remediation plans are in place

o Reviewing misses and helping stakeholders develop new actions to work around limitations and constraints

o Advising and partnering with senior-level leadership when there are issues and requests

o Conveying complex information effectively and concisely, highlighting wins and calls to action

• Raise core and common challenges and opportunities that connect to Entertainment PXT Just Do Its (JDIs), organizational goals, Kaizens, or new initiatives

• Generate and implement ideas that improve the Entertainment PXT PMO’s mechanisms, capacity planning, and outputs

About the team

The People eXperience and Technology (PXT) organization focuses on building a better workplace for Amazonians to invent and deliver on behalf of customers. This position is in Amazon Entertainment PXT, which supports dynamic businesses across film, television, sports, music, podcasts, audiobooks, livestreaming, and other media content. It is a part of the Entertainment PXT Project Management Organization (PMO), dedicated to transforming critical, topline initiatives to reality.

Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in HR specialist, HR generalist (e.g., HR Business Partner or HR Partner), HR manager, or HR program roles

• 8+ years of experience leading cross-functional projects with tech and non-tech teams

• 8+ years of experience managing, analyzing, and communicating results to senior management

• Experience building operational mechanisms and leading process improvement initiatives

• Experience leading senior leadership meetings

• Experience with strategic business writing and communications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or another related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in multiple HR domains

• Experience leading global projects

• Experience supporting multiple Amazon businesses

• Master’s degree in HR, business, or another related field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
