TITLE: Casting Welder
LOCATION: Creston, IA
REPORTS TO: Area Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalency
EXPERIENCE: Previous welding experience in non-ferrous metals a plus. On the job training provided.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Must have good vision/sight (must meet industry standards), depth perception, hearing, and hand-eye coordination, and dexterity. Reading, writing, above average math aptitude is necessary. Must be team-oriented, problem-solver, and self-motivated. Must be able to follow written work instructions. Must be able to multitask and meet production goals and deadlines. Must be team-oriented and have good communication skills. Must have great attention to detail. Must be able to pass (80% or above) preliminary aptitude test given at orientation. Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis. Must be able to grip, push, and pull with 80lb strength on a regular basis. Must be able to generate 15lbs of pinch strength on occasion. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical. Must be able to perform elevated work on an occasional basis. Some tasks require repetitive activities. Must be able to stand on concrete up to 8 hours. Must be willing to cross-train within the classification. Must be able to follow all safety rules and wear all required personal protective equipment. Must be willing to work any shift. Must be willing to cross train within department classifications.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Must be able to weld repair magnesium and aluminum base alloy casting defects, by following the customer repair procedures and following written and verbal work instructions.
Must be able to identify multiple casting, achieve quality welds, and assure conformance to internal operating procedures and customer specifications.
Must be able to be tested and certified per company policy.
Must be able to recertify every five years per company policy.
Must be able to perform TIG welding with Aluminum and Magnesium alloys.
Must be able to identify different alloys and castings to ensure weld is done without creating scrap.
Must be able to communicate with different levels of employees, management, and departments to ensure welds are being done properly.
