Union County College Alumni Relations Coordinator in Cranford, New Jersey

Union County College is a public comprehensive community college providing quality, affordable, accessible educational programs that serve the greater Union County region. It is the oldest of New Jerseys 19 Associate Degree Colleges, serving both career-minded and transfer-oriented students since 1933. The College enrolls almost 30,000 credit, non-credit and continuing education students and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Many programs lead to the Associate in Arts, Science and Applied Science degrees.

Campus: Scotch Plains and Cranford

General Description:

Under the direction of the Dean of the Scotch Plains and Virtual Campus, the Alumni Relations Coordinator will actively contribute to the success of the Alumni Program by providing administrative and web-based support for alumni events, meticulous management of an alumni database, fostering a strong social media presence and lead the planning, organization, and execution of alumni events. This position serves as a linchpin connecting and supporting several departments to alumni affairs. The successful candidate must be dedicated to delivering customer-service-focused and comprehensive alumni programming. The Alumni Relation’s Coordinator is vital in enhancing the engagement and connectivity between the College and its alumni.

Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple alumni-focused projects, ensuring regular communication with the Dean of the Scotch Plains and Virtual Campus.

• Collaborate with other college departments (e.g., Union County College Foundation, Career Services, Center for Education & Workforce Development, and Academic Affairs Divisions) to strengthen alumni connections and support for current students.

• Identify employers vis-à-vis alumni to provide current students with jobs and experiential learning opportunities.

• Partner with the College’s Foundation to organize and expand alumni affairs (e.g., reunions, networking nights) to bring UCNJ graduates back to the College.

• Partner with the College’s Foundation to identify and track new donors.

• Partner with internal and external vendors (e.g. caterers, facilities) to ensure alumni event success.

• Help design marketing materials for alumni events and initiatives.

• Manage and track alumni information in a central database. Assist with recruiting and tracking of the membership to the Alumni Association.

• Collaborate with College Relations to leverage social media tools (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok) to connect with UCNJ alumni and share College news.

• Create and maintain a College webpage dedicated to alumni.

• Support and track alumni enrollment into noncredit and credit programs for lifelong learning.

• Assist alumni with selecting programs and or classes as part of a transfer transition team.

• Answer questions and provide excellent service to alumni and others who contact the program.

• Other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience:

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in event planning or higher education is preferred.

• Applicants who graduated from UCNJ and or with extensive experience at UCNJ .

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.

• Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

• Some travel required.

• Possess the ability to travel and drive for business purposes and work some nights and weekends.
