SAIC Mechanical Engineer in CRANE, Indiana

Description

SAIC is looking for a Mechanical Engineer in Crane, IN to support the U.S. Navy. This position could use a highly motivated individual to support operations of a multifaceted organization at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane that provides unique ordnance related design solutions and technical excellence. The person in this position will have the opportunity to collaborate with other professionals, to solve technical problems, and engineer sound solutions in a fast-paced environment. This position will serve in a capacity responsible for contributing to various projects, including all aspects of the product life-cycle from concept to fielding, all while having the opportunity to help build and maintain strategic relationships with customers and industry partners.

Job Duties Include:

  • Assess current and emerging technology to develop robust capability solutions.

  • Translate basic requirements provided into functional designs and deliverable products.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in materials/component selection, conceptual design, engineering analysis, manufacturing readiness, process development, quality review, and project documentation.

  • Effectively complete multiple tasks and projects in a timely manner, with limited supervision.

  • Support customers and sponsoring organizations in data collection, design of experiments, range operations, and technical evaluation as required to support product and solution development.

  • Occasional travel support.

  • Work with and in production of explosives, ordnance, and related systems.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline, with a minimum of 2yrs experience

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance; Interim Secret needed to start

  • Experience with 3D CAD system (i.e Solid Works), and/or engineering Simulation/Analysis Software.

  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to a variety of audiences in oral or written formats

  • Significant and recent technical product development experience, including design for manufacturing and development of technical specifications/drawings to support procurement

  • Microsoft office (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) proficiency

DESIRED:

  • SolidWorks

  • Ansys

  • Project Management

  • Familiarity with government acquisitions

  • Technical Writing

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

  • Explosives Experience
