The Opportunity

The Finance Manager is a highly visible mill-based position. It is a crucial member of the Covington Finance team, partnering directly with the business and finance leaders to provide analytical support and drive results. As a Covington Finance Manager, you will work directly with Operations, the Covington Finance Team/Leadership, and other Divisional/Corporate departments. The Finance Manager is responsible for leading the team on day-to-day tasks, including the financial close and forecasting process. They will be a part of the strategy execution - building a winning culture and strong financial performance.

The Finance Manager supports the mill controller in overseeing the operations of the mill that includes adequacy and adherence to control systems, mill level accounting and processing, business analytics, capital planning and analysis, product costing and profitability analysis, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, as well as management and development of the team.

How You Will Impact WestRock

  • Effectively manage and lead members of the Covington Mill Finance team on day-to-day finance and accounting functions and business partnering with the mill and extrusion plant.

  • Participates and partners on mill projects, not exclusive to finance and accounting

  • Supports and responds to Division and Corporate requests and reporting

  • Plays an essential role in developing accurate forecasts and budgets while understanding improvement/mitigation opportunities that also includes extrusion plant and third-party converters

  • Manages the month-end close process and meets deadlines. Work may include preparing/posting journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, finished good inventory costing, and income statement analysis

  • Support and serve on software implementation and process improvement projects

  • Drive and partner on productivity initiatives that lead to continued EBITDA growth and profit opportunities

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor\u2019s degree in finance or accounting (MBA, CPA, or CMA is preferred)

  • 5+ years work experience, including some background in FP&A

  • Manufacturing/Process experience preferred

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to accuracy, passion for improvement, and desire to work in a team/collaborative environment

  • Strong Microsoft skills in Excel, SAP, JD Edwards, and Hyperion, a plus

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact credibly and diplomatically with multiple levels in the organization

  • A track record of driving sustainable results, e.g., EBITDA growth, margin expansion and cash flow

  • Ability to multi-task and perform at a high level in a demanding and fast paced environment

  • Must possess the potential and desire to advance to leadership roles

  • Ability to work independently, balancing routine responsibilities with ad hoc requests
