Title Logistics and Transportation Internship Description Summer 2025 Internship Opportunity Summary: The Logistics-Transportation Intern will focus on projects and company initiatives that are directly related to the Logistics and Delivery department. This individual works closely with their Mentor, Delivery Teams, and our Branch Operations to learn more about our Company, build their transportation knowledge and understand basic delivery, regulatory and operations processes. Our Logistics-Transportation Intern will further develop their skills and knowledge in their field of study . This individual displays behaviors that support our culture, our 5 P's and our purpose to create lasting value for those we serve. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Job shadowing various roles and departments to learn about Van Meter Partner with Delivery Supervisors, Fleet Specialist and Branch Operations to learn basic electrical industry distribution and transportation related activities Assist with oversight of projects that could include improving route optimization, risk management and regulatory compliance Attend and participate in company and department meetings Achieve a strong competency in all needed databases, tools, systems, and processes Manage communication both internally and externally Perform assigned tasks as directed Critical Success Factors: Excellent internal and external customer service Excellent interpersonal skills, Strong communication skills written and oral Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail Self-motivated and energetic Willingness to learn, grow, and adapt to change Ability to maintain a positive attitude and solid work ethic Dependable Demonstrated decision-making ability, able to analyze workload and establish priorities with deadlines Ability to work collaboratively with all departments Strong team orientation yet able to work independently Job Requirements/Specifications: High School Graduate Currently enrolled in a College or University pursuing associate or bachelor's degree Considered a Leader Excellent ability to learn and implement new software packages quickly Proven people skills Able to commit to a set work schedule Proficient in Microsoft Office software specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Work Environment & Physical Demand: Occasional (less than 1 time per week): Pushing, Climbing, Crouching, Vision acuity - far, Depth perception, Field of vision, Vision adjustment, Color vision, Driving, Works alone, Extended day, Work outdoors Some (less than 1/3 of the time): Standing, Walking, Lifting, Carrying, Bending @ the waist, Twisting upper body, Reaching Consistent (more than 2/3s of the time): Sitting, Working with hands, Working with fingers, Talking, Hearing, Vision acuity - near, Works with others, Customer contact, Work indoors The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an incumbent.
