10709 - Manager, Business Development

Purpose:

The Business Development Manager is in charge of managing, directing, and carrying out all business development-related activities related to connected cars and mobility services in collaboration with the HMC and client business units in the NA region. The role includes connected car business innovation, strategy and planning, market research and analysis, and client and partner account management. Support the client business unit leaders by providing data-based strategic direction to identify and develop new business opportunities. Plans, manages, and controls the activities of a team of business analysts and business solution architects that provides business intelligence and strategic planning support for business segments. Leads initiatives to analyze complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the business development strategy and planning to support the growth and expansion of the connected car platform to meet business objectives and goals of the Connectivity Service department.

  • Understand current connected car products and develop strategic roadmaps to maximize the services opportunity.

  • Develop and lead the Mobility Integration Platform service offering to enable the expansion of telematics services into the fleet and B2B business area.

  • Manage the overall business solution development team, from technical demonstration through POC and productization, according to market demand and potential in the automotive and telematics businesses.

  • Lead market research and analysis to provide insights on new connected car and wireless solutions and provide business opportunities and technologies recommendations.

  • Identify and assist in the development of strategic partnerships required to generate new revenue streams.

  • Establish and manage strategic partnerships with affiliates and external business partners, including telecom partners and 3rd party B2B partners, to find creative ways to overcome obstacles and ensure delivery of quality, schedule, and cost goals.

  • Work with executives from partner companies and use competitive intelligence, financial analysis, and market research to identify compelling trends and opportunities.

  • Lead and coordinate discussions and contract negotiations with partners and business units, including but not limited to new business development contracts, pricing, SLAs on quality of service (QoS) etc.

  • Review current pricing structure against the existing and forecasted usage and recommend new pricing plan and negotiation strategy based on SME input.

  • Assist the Business Operations team in client engagement and account management services, such as the upkeep and review of the MSA, SOWs, budget, POs, and invoice processing.

  • Assist the HOS (head of sections) with various strategy and planning responsibilities to meet the department KPIs and organization needs.

  • Spearhead initiatives that are consistent with the client business units overall strategy and act as liaison with planning to help align technology plan with business plan.

  • Provide financial oversight and goal setting to accelerate bottom line benefits associated with Telematics.

    Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent in the field of business, computers, information systems or related degree.

  • 10+ years of IT exp. or industry work experience in consulting, strategic planning, business process design and IT governance and/or relevant project experience. 

  • 5+ years of experience in the Automotive, Telematics or Telecommunications industry

  • Ability to research, organize and analyze business processes to improve operations efficiency.

  • Strong time management, multi-tasking, quantitative & qualitative analysis, decision making skills, critical thinking.

  • Experience leading internal IT teams and external partners to deliver IT solutions and services within customer expectations

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Ability to adapt to business and technological change within the company and learn the changes quickly, Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to give and receive real-time feedback to and from team members

  • A strong network within the global automotive industry is a plus

  • Expert level LinkedIn user for business development  

    Travel Time:

  • Occasional travel may be required.

    Salary range: $112,830 to $173,756
