Assistant Plant Controller - Tuscaloosa, AL

Our client, a global leader in the automotive manufacturing sector, is seeking an Assistant Plant Controller to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting and finance, combined with hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, to support the financial operations of the plant and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, CA) is strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a decentralized manufacturing environment; automotive sector experience is a must

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong problem-solving skills.

  • A critical thinker with keen attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills, with a proven ability to handle multiple priorities.

  • Experience with AS400 systems (CMS or Epicor preferred).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the MS Office Suite.

  • Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal controls, such as Bill 198, is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present daily key performance indicators (KPIs) to the management team.

  • Oversee financial operations, including cash management, accounts receivable, inventory, capital assets, accounts payable, and intercompany transactions.

  • Review and ensure the accuracy of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Assist in preparing and analyzing weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance explanations.

  • Support compliance with corporate reporting requirements and internal accounting policies.

  • Partner with the Controller to develop and submit accurate financial forecasts and budgets.

  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of effective internal controls to comply with SOX and related requirements.

  • Collaborate with departmental leaders to identify inefficiencies and spearhead cost-saving initiatives in areas such as freight, outsourced production, inventory management, and scrap reduction.

  • Provide oversight for customer quotations and capital spending projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with corporate requirements.

  • Facilitate physical inventory counts and valuations.

  • Support external and internal audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing any identified issues promptly.

  • Conduct performance appraisals and foster the development of departmental staff.

  • Promote adherence to quality, environmental standards, and manufacturing system requirements.

Pay Details: $90,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year
