As a switchboard Operator you will be responsible for taking incoming calls to the main clinic line. This will include answering calls for patients asking to be transferred to different areas of the clinic. You can expect to have up to 100+ calls on a busy day. If necessary, the clinical team will also call through to call in a code in which you will be responsible for paging the code and location information for the clinic. It is important for you to remain calm and think fast in a crisis.

This position is part-time (20 hours), Monday - Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 9:00am – 5:00pm (hours/days per week will vary 4-6 hours per day). It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 444 NW Elks Dr. Corvallis, OR 97330.

We offer weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be during hours of operation, Monday – Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards document. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within.

  • Switchboard operations - Answers all incoming calls and direct them to the proper departments/individuals. Assists patients and in-house staff with connecting to an outside operator.

  • Provides excellent customer service, i.e., provide driving directions to callers, answering front-line questions and offering assistance as needed.

  • Emergency monitoring – Paging of physicians, Patient Services, and facilities maintenance staff. Processes emergency code calls with a calm, focused demeanor.

  • Processes clerical type work in support of the Administration team.

  • Participates in the training of new switchboard personnel.

  • Responsible for the upkeep of all switchboards related information.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience

  • Six (6) months or more of customer service experience and use of multi-phone line systems.

  • Experience working on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work.

  • Must be 18 years of age OR older

  • Ability to work part - time form 9:00am – 5:00pm (hours/days per week will vary 4-6 hours per day)

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to project a welcoming, informative persona while engaging with patients, providers, and staff via telephone.

  • Ability to work well with providers and other staff.
