Guthrie Physical Therapy Assistant - Rehabilitation - Per Diem in Corning, New York

Position Summary: The incumbent shall be responsible for providing a full range of physical therapy services including therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position’s qualifications, professional practices and ethical standards. The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion.

Education, License & Cert: The incumbent shall, at a minimum, be a graduate of an accredited PTA degree program (or foreign equivalent). Current licensure in the state of primary practice is required. Current dual licensure in New York and Pennsylvania is preferred. Education/experience in working with an adult and geriatric population is necessary; education/experience‐serving people with physical disabilities is desirable. Current CPR Certification is mandated.

Essential Functions: 1. Communicates and demonstrate a professional image/attitude for patients, families, clients, coworkers, and others. 2. Provide population appropriate therapeutic interventions resulting in positive outcomes as judged by quality monitoring and patient satisfaction. May administer medication when indicated by therapy order. 3. Document patient response to treatment a) Patient response to the treatment plan is documented as evidenced by patient achievement of goals and/or goal revision by the Physical Therapist. b) Collaboration with the evaluating therapist to maintain best quality of care for patient. c) Information is provided to patient/family regarding current status, program planning and discharge plans throughout the rehabilitation program.

  1. Document the course of patient care including progress made and continuing need for treatment. a) Interventions and effects are documented daily according to policy and procedure. b) Daily progress notes are completed according to policy and procedure. c) Ensure patients on caseload are getting an outpatient progress note sent to referring provider at least every 10 visits. d) Discharge summaries are completed according to practice act and policy and procedures. 5. Provide patient and family education on tasks and resources that will assist with continued functional independence. a) Integrates family members into the treatment, educational and discharge planning process for a safe transition home, and to ensure continued care needs are met. b) Effectiveness of education measured by peer input, family verbal feedback and patient satisfaction surveys. c) Favorable attitudes and motivation toward the rehabilitation process are evidenced by positive patient satisfaction surveys. d) Educational methods are adapted to meet patient and family education needs.

  2. Adhere to policies and practices of applicable professional organizations, entity facilities and Robert Packer Hospital Rehabilitation Department specific policies while being familiar with and acts according to contents of applicable professional code, employee /handbook, unit Policy & Procedure and hospital policies. 7. Maintain competency, licenses/certifications, and memberships in applicable professional organizations. a) The competency/skills assessment is satisfactorily completed annually. b) Applicable licenses/certifications and memberships are current.

The pay range for this position is $23.22 - $36.56/hr.

This position is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
