Our site in Little Island, Cork, Ireland is seeking a Senior PCB Designer to join our team!
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides skilled and advanced design duties from work orders involving highly complex, technical design concepts with a wide range of products that require diversified knowledge. Is exceptionally creative with far-reaching design capabilities. Has above average initiative and the ability to make correct descisions regarding the best way to carry out assignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Assists Engineering in reference or investigative work related to product design development.
Handles complex design/documentation, exercising considerable judgement in design and layout.
Trains others in computer techniques, standards, symbols, nomenclature, engineering terms, and proper use of tools, reference books, and specific work areas.
Interacts with AE’s PCB and PCBA vendors to produce manufacturable and cost efficient parts.
Discusses job requirements and coordinates outputs/approvals directly with person(s) for whom work is being performed.
Schedules, creates, and verifies completed work, checking documentation outputs, BOMs, and CAM files.
Attends meetings to gather information, identify, and implement solutions.
Continues to research the development of current industry technology and disseminates it to other personnel.
Trains and/or supervises other designers.
Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, etc.).
Majority of time spent working on a PC and ECAD system.
SKILLS
Excellent knowledge of industry standards, such as IPC and Compliance Regulatory listings (UL, CSA, etc.).
Excellent knowledge of computers and CAD techniques.
Advanced computer skills with Advanced Energy defined ECAD software.
Ability to use considerable judgment in design and layout using industry standards and good DFX (design for manufacturability and test) standards.
Ability to manage multiple assignments.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of seven years of design/documentation experience or equivalent experience and/or education is preferred.
EDUCATION
Essential: H.Dip or Technical Institute Diploma
