Role: Lead Senior Financial Analyst

Reports to: SM API Cluster Finance Lead

Janssen Pharmaceuticals Sciences UC is manufacturing bulk active pharmaceutical ingredients in Little Island that are sold throughout the world to other Janssen and third party companies where they are further processed into tablets, creams or injectable dosage forms.

Job Purpose

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Senior Financial Analyst to join our team in Cork. The Lead Financial Analyst will focus on responsibilities that drive both the short and long-term strategies for the Cork Business Unit. Business Partnering, financial analysis and compliance are success factors for this role. The role experiences can range between capacity planning, business case modeling, cost improvement analytics, capital investment decisions, and asset reconfiguration activities.

The Lead Financial Analyst reports into the SM API Cluster Lead and will be part of a team of 2 Analysts based in Cork and work within the SM API Cluster Finance team consisting of 9 people based in Cork, Ireland, Geel, Belgium and Athens, USA.

    As a Lead Financial Analyst, your typical day may include:

  • Manage period-end closing and prepare financial operational reports for performance management.

  • Analyze variances and communicate explanations to management with recommended actions.

  • Collaborate with senior management to explain results, make improvements (i.e. CIPs), manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations and lead the development of complex analysis (i.e. demand, capacity, waste, capital prioritization, CAR preparation, inventory management)

  • Costing for new business opportunities (i.e. alternate mfg locations, network optimization, make vs buy, etc….)

  • Standard costing activities including New Standard set up and Annual Std Cost updates.

  • Accounting operations including G/L, Inventory/Cost Accounting.

  • Prepare and generate Business Plan and Quarterly Updates for site and corporate reporting

  • Monitor and implement internal controls (in conjunction with corporate policies), as necessary, to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks.

  • Ensure proper accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, as well as local statutory requirements.

  • Prepare and review ad-hoc reporting & performance analytics e.g. Absorption, Spend and Headcount.

  • Participate in and lead various site and Cluster cost improvement initiatives as directed by the SM API Cluster Finance Lead.

  • Actively participate in and support SM API Cluster Finance team deliverables.

  • Provide proactive consultation, interpretation and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders, used to drive business decisions.


Be vital:

To be part of this high performing team you will have great attention to detail and have

  • Previous Supply Chain or Pharm Commercial experience preferred.

  • A recognised Professional Accountancy qualification

  • A minimum of 4 years of finance experience ideally in a complex multi-national company/environment is desirable.

  • Experience working in a Sarbanes Oxley environment or with previous internal/external audit experience

  • ERP Systems (SAP), EPM and Cost Accounting knowledge is an advantage

  • Team player with an ability to work independently

  • Strong organizational abilities and a hands-on mentality

  • Focus on patients and customers at all times
