About the Role

Data Management plays a critical part in Evergreen to build a solid data foundation through data standardization and harmonization: a critical part of Data Management Governance is to ensure we are enabling the compliance to regulatory requirements pertaining data and AI, translate activities into workflows and effective requirements, monitor proactively risks and compliance, establish and maintain governance processes across the SAP Landscape.

This role reporting to the Director Operational Excellence is part of Business Process and Delivery organization and principally serves as Master Data Governance Lead, with responsibility for the operationalization of data governance across the SAP ecosystem and is empowered to make decisions on behalf of the Business Data Owner. This role defines and enforces policies and procedures for managing data assets, including enterprise data structure, data quality, data stewardship, and reference data security.

You will ensure the oversight and integrity of master data, specifically (but not exclusively) in the context of our SAP ERP sustainment model as well as the implementation of our SAP S/4 system 3rd release. The successful candidate will ensure the timeliness and quality of deliverables whilst collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders globally including, but not limited to, FP&A, Controllership, Tax, HR, Procurement, IT, Supply Chain, and external consultants. This role will drive global data and analytics to enable decision making in support of our enterprise data governance model.

This also has responsibility for designing and implementing the overall MDM governance architecture and interfaces, including critical data integration, data modelling, and data migration for both finance master data and enterprise data. This role will work with other data stewards to create alignment and horizontal integration of data and information across all appropriate business areas.

This key position will also be responsible for helping lead the delivery of programs and projects associated with Gilead’s SAP S/4 and will have a primary focus on championing the implementation and operational success for our Data Governance initiatives.

This is a senior and key position, thus requiring the following skills, such as:

Promote the adoption of changes needed within the organization to support the new Data Governance program.

Demonstrated consulting skills (have advised customers/potential customers).

Key Responsibilities:

Define and execute the overall data management and analytics strategy including data governance, collection, transformation, modeling, quality, and reporting.

Review and classify inventory of data across the enterprise and identify core master data and associated hierarchies/taxonomy and lifecycle events.

Design and implement finance, as well as finance-dependent data management and analytics to drive decision making.

Oversee the management of financial reporting hierarchy, including periodic review of financial data governance process and management of the cost center, profit center and chart of accounts.

Assessing and developing a plan for governance of different data sets: reference data, master data, transactional data, data products.

Evaluate the necessity and accuracy of financial hierarchy and chart of accounts changes resulting from various business changes, including business structure changes and acquisitions.

Monitor management reporting to ensure compliance with management financial reporting governance policies, processes, and controls; work to ensure accurate and consistent financial reporting.

Create and implement methods for monitoring and reporting any data incidents.

Maintain the applicable definition documentation; manage the process to ensure all additions and changes are vetted, aligned, and effectively managed and communicated.

As required, support budgeting and forecasting activities and lead non-routine special projects.

Required:

Expertise with SAP – especially S/4 – data governance initiatives highly desired.

Comprehensive knowledge and industry experience of finance systems, master data management (MDM), data and attributes.

Excellent strategic thinking, planning and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to changing priorities.

Extensive experience of SAP Data Governance related projects and technology-driven solutions

Proven success in developing and executing business vision or strategies, continuous improvement, analytics & advanced technologies to improve core governance values.

Proven track record of understanding business challenges and translating them into value-add solutions.

Demonstrated ability to make sound business decisions using good business judgment and innovative and creative problem-solving.

Proven leadership capabilities, effective stakeholder management and capacity to defend strategic decisions with respect to data governance.

A track record of success in anticipating the future data needs of the organization.

Demonstrated abilities around communicating, reporting, and presenting to leadership.

Proficiency with relational databases and structure design.

Proven ability to manage, supervise and motivate others.

Track record of success managing multiple projects at once.

Knowledge / Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or related area. MBA a plus, Project Management a plus

Extensive amount of finance reporting and analysis and/or accounting work experience, with management and systems experience.

Extensive experience with/in Master Data Governance – ideally in SAP.

Hands on experience/expertise in Master Data Governance including (but not limited to): Material Master, Finance Master Data Objects, Customer, Vendor

Excellent problem solving, and analytical abilities combined with advanced Excel spreadsheet skills.

Superior communication, presentation, change leadership and management skills are required.

Highly motivated, committed to driving change and to continually improving processes and results.

Commercially aware and adept at communicating across a wide number of departments and at managing priorities and multiple tasks to meet deadlines in time critical periods.

Must be an independent self-starter who is effective in a fast-paced environment with the ability to quickly establish credibility with, and influence, diverse audiences.

Experience with SAP and Oracle EBS preferred.

Experience in dashboard platforms (Tableau, Power BI, Spotfire).

Must be fluent in English (written and spoken).
