Aston Carter Accounts Payable Manager in Cordova, Tennessee

8 Week Contract Position

Description:

Training/Assisting: Evaluate current needs alongside AP Manager; identifying what support is needed to promptly assist with executed AP tasks and set up training

opportunities with AP Manager to guide on AP principles and best practices, providing clarity on necessary systems and processes. You will collaborate with AP Manager and VP of Finance to refine current systems and processes or develop new ones when needed.

  1. Invoice Processing: Provide support with end-to-end accounts payable process, including receiving, reviewing, coding, and processing invoices for payment.

  2. Vendor Management: Support where needed, relationships with vendors, resolve any discrepancies or issues, negotiate payment terms, and ensure timely

payments.

  1. Payment Processing: Provide support in the preparation and distribution of payments, including checks, electronic transfers, and ACH payments. Ensure

accuracy and compliance with payment terms.

  1. Expense Reporting: Review and support the processing of employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and proper documentation.

  2. Month-end Closing: Assist in month-end closing activities, including reconciling accounts payable transactions, preparing accruals, and generating reports for

management.

  1. Process Improvement: Evaluate and provide recommendations to accounts payable processes where increased efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness can be

improved. Implement best practices and automation where applicable.

  1. Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements related to accounts payable functions.

  2. Reporting: Assist in the preparation and analyze accounts payable reports and metrics, providing insights to management on vendor spending, payment trends, and other relevant data.

  3. Audit Support: Support internal and external audits related to accounts payable, providing documentation and assistance as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Proven experience (5 years) in accounts payable or related accounting roles.

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with proficiency in

financial software and ERP systems.

• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify process

improvements and implement solutions.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate

effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.

• Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., GAAP,

SOX) pertaining to accounts payable processes
