DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Michael Baker International is seeking a bridge intern with software development skills to join the team in our Moon Township, PA office. This is great opportunity with career growth potential and the opportunity to contribute on cutting-edge projects. The developer will be part of Michael Baker's Bridge Software Department. This department has been applying computer technology to the bridge profession for over 30 years, using bridge engineering experience combined with a wide range of programming skills.
This position will be responsible for assisting and utilizing a combination of bridge engineering skills and software development skills. While working under the direct supervision of registered Professional Engineers the position involves both bridge engineering and software engineering related skills and may provide opportunity to cross over to work within our bridge design department.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS * Working towards Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field * Engineer-In-Training certificate holder * Knowledge of structural analysis * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Desire to pursue a career in software development related to bridges and transportation structures
PREFERRED SKILLS * Highly motivated self-starter a must * Knowledge of bridge engineering and AASHTO's bridge design and evaluation specifications * Strong structural engineering background * Knowledge of software programming using: FORTRAN, C++ and/or C# development and debugging * Other programming experience: VB.NET, Matlab * Domain design using OOP * GUI design * OpenGL or general computer graphics * BIM for bridges or 3D modeling * Producing XML Reports (C++/C#) * Software testing
COMPENSATION The approximate compensation range for this position is $20 to $22 per hour. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
