Summary:
Has responsibility for executing Quality related activities and plans. This can include inspection of material to UIC print and Material Review Board activities. A successful incumbent will develop strong partnerships with internal and external colleagues and promote continuous quality.
Principal Accountabilities :
Performs and coordinates inspection of received goods, including verification of high risk material from new suppliers, first time deliveries, Engineering Change rework, or material with questionable reliability and quality.
Assists Supplier Quality Engineers in communication with suppliers & customers on First Article Inspection results, techniques, and improvement recommendations.
Verifies and dispositions nonconforming material, including quality data assurance input within the Nonconforming Material Report database.
Manages quality data using spreadsheets and databases with understanding of SPC and its applications.
Utilizes defined sampling procedures for evaluating, recording and reporting reliable quality data.
Participates in data analysis and SPC techniques, as well as effective cross-functional problem solving.
Uses ANSI GD&T methodologies in reading and interpreting print requirements.
Uses hand gauging techniques for mechanical verification of material.
Visually inspects mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical material using standard techniques,
Uses electrical test equipment to verify electrical and electro-mechanical material.
Tools used include; hardness testers, Vision measuring equipment, optical comparator, durometers, gauges, calipers, micrometers.
Determines the correct choice of verification techniques and equipment.
Performs other job-related tasks as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma with 3-5 years of related experience
Advanced understanding of GD&T & blueprint reading
CMM Experience is helpful; (Lietz PMM, PC-DMIS, Starrett, etc)
Competency with PC based applications such as Word, Excel (Excel daily for data and reporting).
SAP ERP or similar system for inventory tracking, is desirable
Demonstrative knowledge of machining practices is preferred.
Experience with ISO-9000 2015 standards or IATF 16949, and/or AS9100.
Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality:
Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes
Physical Demands:
The employee is frequently required to access and manipulate various objects, tools, or controls.
Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to vibration.
The employee must occasionally move heavy objects up to 25lbs.
Noise level may be loud in some areas; where necessary, hearing protection equipment is provided.
May remain stationary for extended periods but needs to be mobile enough to navigate through work areas.

Target Hourly Pay Rate: $23.00/hr - $26.00/hr + Robust Benefits
