About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior/Lead Power BI Developer to take a key role in designing, developing, and managing data visualization solutions. As a Senior/Lead Power BI Developer, you will be responsible for leading the creation of reports and dashboards to drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver high-quality Power BI and related automation solutions.

Responsibilities ::

Power BI Development and Maintenance:

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of Power BI dashboards and reports.

  • Create interactive and user-friendly data visualizations to present insights in a meaningful way.

  • Develop and optimize DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) formulas to create complex calculations and measures.

Data Modeling and Integration:

  • Build efficient data models in Power BI that support the reporting needs of the business.

  • Integrate data from multiple sources such as Snowflake, SQL Server, Excel, APIs, and cloud-based databases into Power BI.

  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity by developing appropriate data validation processes.

Requirements Gathering and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and decision-makers to gather requirements and ensure the delivery of relevant and actionable reports.

  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring alignment with the company’s data strategy.

  • Lead discussions with stakeholders to review, refine, and finalize Power BI deliverables.

Performance Optimization:

  • Identify and implement strategies to optimize the performance of Power BI reports, including improving load times and optimizing query execution.

  • Implement best practices for efficient use of Power BI, data storage, and data retrieval.

Leadership and Mentoring:

  • Act as a lead by mentoring junior Power BI developers and providing guidance on technical development, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

  • Oversee the work of the Power BI team, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet quality standards.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on Power BI capabilities and best practices within the organization.

Data Governance and Security:

  • Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies, including user access control, data privacy, and sensitive data handling.

  • Collaborate with IT and data teams to implement secure and scalable data solutions within Power BI.

Documentation and Training:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, technical guides, and data dictionaries.

  • Provide training and support to end-users on how to effectively use Power BI reports and dashboards.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current with Power BI updates and industry trends to continually enhance data reporting capabilities.

  • Recommend and implement enhancements to improve data visualization techniques, tool utilization, and reporting efficiency.

Qualification and Skill Requirements :

  • Must be a U.S. citizen due to contractual requirements.

  • Expert knowledge of Power BI features, including Power Query, Power Pivot, and DAX.

  • Proven experience with data modeling and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and relational database design.

  • Experience with Azure Data Services , Power BI Service, and Power BI administration.

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and generate actionable insights.

  • Strong communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience in optimizing Power BI performance and troubleshooting performance-related issues.

  • Familiarity with SSRS, SSIS , and other Microsoft BI tools is a plus.

  • Leadership experience in mentoring teams and overseeing Power BI projects.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Intelligence, or a related field .

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience developing Power BI solutions, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.

  • Experience working in agile environments and leading cross-functional teams.

  • Power BI certification (e.g., DA-100) is a plus.

Preferred Tools/Technologies:

  • Power BI Service, Power Automate, Power Apps

  • Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse

  • Excel, SQL Server, and other relevant databases

  • Git, JIRA, or other project management tools
