The Opportunity

Black & Veatch is seeking a Senior Pursuit Specialist to join our talented, Power Providers market sector in support of the Advanced Power Generation team. This is a lead position with the opportunity to be responsible of supervising and developing a team of pursuit coordinators/specialists, to ensure compliance with Black & Veatch brand standards and quality guidelines while also assisting the team with pursuit opportunities. This role understands the strategy/vision of the assigned work group. They will be the first line of communication for challenges that arise from our internal clients and will work with the team to find efficient solutions for complex problems.

The Team

Black & Veatch’s Power Providers focuses on the holistic demands for energy generation markets that include utilities, independent power producers and new non-traditional entrants adding to the much-needed supply of secure, clean power to our industries and communities. Key Responsibilities

  • Manages staff of Pursuit Coordinators / Specialists; responsible for performance management and career development activities. 

  • Collaborates on writing, editing, production, assembly, and delivery of assigned proposals and other client materials.

  • Facilitates and assembles responses for EPC and Services pursuits as the opportunity progresses though the proposal life cycle, including layout and artwork in InDesign.

  • Coaches’ direct reports on improving their unique skillsets and encourages personal growth.

  • Creates a positive work environment, supports safety initiatives, and promotes a culture that reflects the fundamental values of the firm.

  • Establishes and maintains quality assurance and ensures compliance of brand standards for all deliverables. 

  • Drives process adherence to ensure best practice.

  • Determines resources required to complete major pursuits and coordinates the assimilation of these resources with senior management.

  • Manage SOQ process and delegate tasks as needed (SOQ updates, branding updates, project sheet assignment, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skilled in InDesign / Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • Skilled in content creation and editing graphics in InDesign or Illustrator.

  • Previous experience developing proposals, preferably in the energy industry. 

  • Supervisory skills including teambuilding and conflict management.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Skilled at solving grammatical, spelling and formatting issues within Microsoft Word and InDesign.

  • Solid understanding and experience in implementing proposal quality reviews.

  • Advanced problem solving skills, attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple deadlines.

  • Confident personality with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Experience working in an EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) and/or project management firm. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication or a related field; or equivalent experience

  • 6+ years related experience

Normal office environment with a hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote
