Position Summary: This position is responsible for answering inbound phone calls to schedule patient appointments according to established protocols. Makes outbound calls to reschedule appointments as required.Responsibilities/Accountabilities:Appointment Scheduling:Schedules, reschedules, and cancels patient appointments.Processes incoming doctor consults and referrals.Answers and directs calls to proper location in a timely manner.Receives calls from hospitals for consults and forwards to the appropriate staff member.Data entry of patient demographic information necessary to schedule an appointment in EHR.Sends patient portal letters.May provide coverage for, and assistance to other departments with various tasks when needed, such as Front Desk, Registration, Reception, etc.Completes other duties as assigned by the supervisor.Initiative:Seeks out assignments, added duties, or opportunities to learn when assigned work is complete, as patient census or workload permits, or to otherwise fill down time productively.Proposes new ideas, makes suggestions, and seeks opportunities to improve processes or workflow through appropriate channels.Attempts to problem solve when assigned work is disrupted, equipment is down, etc. before involving supervisor.Teamwork:Works cooperatively with coworkers, providers, and management.Shares knowledge and insights with co-workers in a constructive manner.Willingly provides coverage to department, staying beyond scheduled ending time when clinic schedule demands it, volunteering to cover time off or unexpected absences, maintaining workflow in department without direct supervision.Addresses conflicts with person directly before involving manager or uninvolved peers.Is considerate of others with regard to taking breaks or meal periods, use of computer and telephone, and noise in department.Policies and Procedures:Knows and complies with policies and procedures as enumerated in the Orthopedic One Employee Handbook and policies and procedures documents.Provides assistance and support to leadership in implementing policies and procedures as necessary.Actively participates in training, and conducting day to day work activity by adhering to all policies and procedures as enumerated in compliance and risk management programs.Education, Experience, and Certification/Licensure Required:A high school diploma/GED required. Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred, but not required.
