We are looking to add a new team member to support our rapidly growing automation and robotics program. This posting is for a Robotics Applications Engineer, ideal for someone with several years of robot system experience and a well-rounded understanding of the automation/robotics industry. In this position, you will be jumping into a wide range of projects and activities, from identifying automation/robotics solutions, to building and testing proof-of-concept and prototype systems, to performing industry and market research on new robotics technologies. For example, you may be helping to develop cutting edge tele-presence solutions, working with advanced 2D/3D sensors, supporting automated robotic path planning development, and creating unique ways to interpret and visualize data. This role requires someone who: Is a problem solver. Has a strong "maker" mindset Is hardworking, ambitious, and enthusiastic about robots and other automation technologies Works swiftly, efficiently, and safely in both independent and team situations Has a continuous improvement mindset, proactively seeking out challenges and solutions Receives feedback professionally Understands the importance of completing projects within scope, schedule, and budget, and has a track record of doing so Is willing to jump in and help colleagues across the company, regardless of the team, technology, or project Doesn't mind traveling between the Columbus, OH and Buffalo, NY sites (approximately one trip per month) Has excellent time management skills, and always follow-through on commitments ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Working collaboratively with internal and external teams to identify automation opportunities and solutions for our clients Working closely with subject matter experts to design, develop, and build demonstration and prototype automation systems Using CAD and simulation software packages to design and edit basic components and validate system concepts Building expertise in the integration and setup of various automation technologies such as collaborative robots (cobots), vision systems, grippers, and process tooling Investigating technology options through OEM/vendor discussions and internet research Preparing documentation, reports, and presentations on project work, technology learning, operating procedur
