Responsibilities 1. Upon being hired, the Officer will undergo a 4 to 6 week training cycle. The Officer will be placed with a Senior Officer when training on the floor. This training will include working multiple shifts and locations for familiarization and experience. The Officer will learn multiple task in a classroom setting involving physical intervention and verbal techniques. Once the Officer has completed training the following duties will be performed. 2. Conducts random, but frequent, patrols in his/her assigned area to detect and appropriately respond to safety and/or security issues. These patrols can be performed on foot, motor vehicle, or bicycle, as assigned. 3. Intervenes in interpersonal conflict safely and effectively to maintain order. Provides appropriate intervention and/or assistance by detaining perpetrators of criminal acts, restraining hostile or uncooperative patients, escorting belligerent visitors from the premises. 4. Conducts preliminary investigations, as appropriate and/or when requested, regarding those incidents that amount to a criminal act or any incident that requires safety/security intervention. 5. Documents, by utilizing standard departmental/hospital forms, activities and incidents that are required to be or should be recorded. 6. Conducts ?lock/unlock? activities as required and appropriate. 7. Performs staff escorts and/or provides transportation to staff and/or visitors, as appropriate. 8. Performs vehicle assistance (jump starts, lock-outs,) as required and appropriate. 9. Enforces hospital parking policies and procedures, as appropriate. 10.
