ManpowerGroup Construction Project Manager in Columbus, Ohio

Job Title: Construction Project Manager

Location: Hybrid Columbus OH

Work Schedule: M-F

Contract Details: 12mo contract to hire

Pay Rate: $45hr

Candidates: open to Columbus OH candidates as relocation candidates will not be considered.

We are seeking a skilled Project Manager, preferably with a background in electric utilities, particularly in customer-facing roles or leading customer-focused projects. This role involves managing intermediate to complex projects at both the transmission and distribution levels within a matrix team environment. The successful candidate will support aggressive growth strategies within our Associated Business Development (ABD) group by providing leadership, direction, training, and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle. This includes planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closing projects to ensure they are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget, all while maximizing customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and oversee all aspects of assigned projects, ensuring proficiency in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and supervising project activities.

  2. Assist in the development of detailed customer proposals, competitive bids, and scope of work documents, including project schedules, timelines, procurement activities, and contractor resources.

  3. Maintain strategic relationships with the transmission organization, customer account managers, and distribution team members across the AEP service territory.

  4. Update and maintain the ABD database as required.

  5. Uphold and enforce the AEP System Safety Process, ensuring a safe working environment focused on achieving Zero Harm.

  6. Manage and coordinate project/outage plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring proficiency in all aspects.

  7. Oversee project costs and provide detailed reporting for invoicing and financial audits.

  8. Communicate project details and status updates effectively to all stakeholders.

  9. Lead planning meetings, project updates, and stakeholder presentations.

  10. Provide clear and concise written and oral reports and other communications.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, project management, or a related field with 3 years of qualified experience, or an Associate’s degree with 5 years of qualified experience.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years as a Project Manager Associate (Grade 6) or equivalent experience in outage management, business administration, major construction, project estimating, controls, or engineering. Experience in construction safety, negotiations, scope development/control, cost estimating, contracting, project controls/reporting, and quality control is beneficial. Experience in utilities, commercial nuclear power, and/or IT systems is favorable.

  • Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver’s license is required. PMP certification is preferred.

  • Utility Experience: Strongly preferred, especially in customer-facing roles or leading customer-focused projects.

Additional Information:

  • Hybrid Role: In-office presence required 3 days per week. Candidates must be local. Please indicate the candidate's location at the top of the resume.

  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required, up to 15%, including local travel.
