Oracle Principal Cloud Native Core Support Engineer in Columbus, Ohio

Job Description

As a member of the Support organization, your focus is to deliver post-sales support and solutions to the Oracle customer base while serving as an advocate for customer needs. This involves resolving post-sales non-technical customer inquiries via phone and electronic means, as well as, technical questions regarding the use of and troubleshooting for our Electronic Support Services. A primary point of contact for customers, you are responsible for facilitating customer relationships with Support and providing advice and assistance to internal Oracle employees on diverse customer situations and escalated issues.

As a Sr. Support Engineer, you will be the technical interface to customers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Value-Added Resellers (VARs) for resolution of problems related to the installation, recommended maintenance and use of Oracle products. Have an understanding of all Oracle products in their competencies and in-depth knowledge of several products and/or platforms. Also, you should be highly experienced in multiple platforms and be able to complete assigned duties with minimal direction from management. In this position, you will routinely act independently while researching and developing solutions to customer issues.

Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 4 years experience with Core products or five years experience with Applications products and have a technical degree i.e., BS Computer Science/Management Information Systems/Science/ Engineering/Math/Physics/Chemistry with a 3.0 GPA OR (for Applications) proven professional/ technical experience, i.e., demonstrating an understanding of Applications at a functional and technical level (preferably Oracle)

Responsibilities

Oracle Communications helps service providers navigate through the challenges of the new 5G core SBA architecture by leveraging decades of experience and heritage in 3G, 4G core network solutions combined with Oracle’s in-depth expertise in cloud native environments. Oracle Communications Cloud Native Core 5G network functions help service providers to cost effectively evolve their core network to 5G.

We are seeking to hire a Principal Technical support engineer for supporting Oracle Cloud Native 5G Solution provided to worldwide Telecom operators. As a Support engineer, you will be the technical interface to the customers for the resolution of their problems related to installation and maintenance of the 5G solutions. You should have an understanding of Oracle 5G products and solutions in their competencies to be able to perform the required functions. Position requires availability to be on call 24x7 on a rotation basis.

Required Experience:

3-5 years experience in the telecommunications industry with specialization in 5G/4G Core, LTE/EPC, diameter/http2

2+ years experience in a Cloud Solutions and Virtualization environment, such as VMWare, Open stack, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

2+ years Experience in open source container orchestration system which may include Docker Swarm , Kubernetes.

5+ years of experience in customer support environment, preferably in a telecom environment

Experience with PCF/NRF/SMF/UDR/SEPP/SCP is a plus.

Experience in end-to-end 5G Packet Core Solutions is a plus

Exposure to Kibana, Grafana and Prometheus solutions is a plus

Exposure to customer deployment models and configuration of large mobile packet core solutions is a plus

Database experience along with knowledge on disaster recovery

5+ years knowledge/experience with LAN and WAN technologies: Routers and Switches

5+ years Knowledge/experience with layer3 IP Routing and layer2 switching

Strong interpersonal skills including excellent team oriented skills

Strong Customer Communication skills

Excellent technical troubleshooting skills of applications

Complete understanding of data communications concepts of network architecture

Analyzing and debugging IP packet captures using Wireshark

Operating Systems: Linux command line and OS troubleshooting

Protocols: TCP/IP, SNMP, HTTP2, Rest API/SOAP

Professional documentation skills writing Method of Procedures (MOPs), Root Cause Analysis (RCAs), Knowledge Base Articles (KBs), step by step technical procedures

Perl/Shell/Python/Java scripting a plus

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization.

Educational Requirements:

BS Computer Science/Management Information Systems/Science/ Engineering with 3.0 GPA

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated location(s)

California Pay Range: from $33.46 to $65.10 per hour; from $69,600 to $135,400 per annum. May be eligible for equity.

Colorado Pay Range: from $25.87 to $58.61 per hour; from $53,800 to $121,900 per annum. May be eligible for equity.

New York City Pay Range: from $31.59 to $61.88 per hour; from $65,700 to $128,700 per annum. May be eligible for equity.

Washington Pay Range: from $30.19 to $61.88 per hour; from $62,800 to $128,700 per annum. May be eligible for equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
