BE PART OF THE CONNECTION As Mgr, Planning, you'll be the driving force behind our upcoming coverage. Your responsibilities will include researching, planning, and coordinating stories for air. You'll work closely with our reporters to ensure their stories are on track, and you'll collaborate with our Assignment Manager to develop effective management strategies for the assignment desk. You'll make data-informed decisions about what's resonating to connect our audience with the stories that matter. WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM NEWS Required Qualifications Experience: Experience in journalism / television newsroom - 5 + years Education: Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Broadcast Communication or comparable television work experience preferred Technical skills: Demonstrated news judgment, ability to develop sources Skills: Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate solutions; ability to relate well with diverse populations Abilities: Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and work under time pressure deadline Travel Ability: Must be open to travel to discover the important stories in your neighborhood and willing to interact with the community Schedule: Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends and holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to "breaking news", and/or severe weather emergencies Preferred Qualifications: Works inside a climate-controlled environment throughout the year Works in an open newsroom setting with a semi-noisy environment Communicates in person, by phone and by email Works different or extended shifts and flexible with schedule changes.
