Definition
The pay for this position is $35.00 per hour.
Under general direction, is responsible for managing the operations of a major adventure recreation or environmental education program or for overseeing the operations of a group of adventure recreation centers in a defined geographical area of the City; performs related duties as required.
Examples of Work

Directs and coordinates the adventure recreation or environmental education programs and activities within a geographical district including facility operations; prepares or assists in the preparation of schedules for personnel and adventure recreation or environmental education programs, activities and events;
Assists in developing, organizing, coordinating and conducting citywide, regional, and statewide special adventure recreation or environmental education activities and events such as aquatic sport competitions and camping expeditions;
Works with neighborhood groups, schools, and other organizations to determine interests and needs related to adventure recreation or environmental education; participates in community meetings and organizational planning;
Answers letters of inquiry and addresses visitors and civic organizations to inform public of park regulations and available facilities and programs and to point out historical, scenic, and environmental features of park;
Negotiates with promoters and vendors to contract and schedule special programs or lease of special equipment;
Coordinates fundraising events; solicits donations; writes and reviews grant proposals;
Initiates projects such as promotional mailings or telephone campaigns to acquaint public with activities of facilities;
Tours park areas to assess development and recreational possibilities and determine maintenance needs;
Investigates accidents, vandalism, theft, poaching, and other violations and presents evidence before court or designated legal authority;
Supervises the work activities of subordinate personnel; monitors work performed and evaluates subordinate performance in writing; provides training and communicates relevant information to subordinates;
Oversees and coordinates the maintenance of petty cash funds and collections for fees, charges and tickets in assigned area; develops and administers budgets for an assigned area;
Coordinates volunteer programs including recruitment, training, and scheduling;
Prepares memos, letters and regular and special reports;
Coordinates safety programs for an assigned area; recommends administrative and operating guidelines and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of experience in outdoor or adventure recreation leadership or environmental/natural resources education. Substitution(s): A master’s degree in one of the above fields may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Possession of a valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
