NiSource Manager of Utilities Strategy & Reporting in Columbus, Ohio

Job Summary

The Manager of Utilities Strategy and Reporting oversees strategy, reporting and improvement initiatives for Operational Excellence; consistently identifies and supports the prioritization of continuous improvement and quality review opportunities; collects data from the utilities performance teams and other key stakeholders to inform and produce strategic plans and reports; partners with senior leaders, Internal Audit, and key stakeholders across NiSource to support OE strategic direction through insightful business analysis from sources such as quality and compliance measurements, external trends and advice, best practices, and regulatory requirements while delivering accurate information within specified deadlines.

Essential Functions

  • Leads diverse team of qualified individuals with authority to hire, terminate, promote, demote, coach, develop and performance manage

  • Working with cross functional teams to develop and continuously evaluate high value strategy and reports

  • Facilitate and lead meetings with project/program teams to review plan viability, review timing/progress, align strategic goals, and review performance

  • Demonstrates quality and system expertise to effectively direct program deliverables and themes for the organization

  • Effectively leads compelling discussions, securing buy-in from individuals and teams

  • Manages operational excellence initiatives, development of accurate, well documented strategic analysis, data analysis and related research

  • Leads insightful business reviews that evaluates best practices, quality standards, benchmarks, and trends

  • Leads and consults on state-specific quality/compliance assessments, as needed

  • Supports and leads meetings with executives and key stakeholders

  • Lead communication between internal departments and external resources to collect data, analyze problems, and implement solutions

  • Drives meaningful summaries of information provided to NiSource executives used to illustrate opportunities, share insights and optimize Utilities performance

  • Collaborates closely with key stakeholders (i.e. Operations, Construction and ops support functions) to identify opportunities and develop solutions that support common goals

  • Required Qualifications For Position

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, operations management, quality, engineering or other relevant field

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in strategy, reporting, auditing, operations, quality or continuous improvement

  • Experience with building organizational talent and structure for strategy, reporting and improvement initiatives

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent analytical thinking with the understanding of how to link to strategies

  • Strong data manipulation skills and visual management

  • Effective leadership and influence skills

  • Ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization

  • Knowledge of how to analyze business problems

  • Proficient in computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Self-directed

  • Broad experience in strategic plan development along with evaluation of impact analysis post implementation

  • Strong business and/or financial acumen

  • Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

  • Advanced degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management or other relevant field

  • Related knowledge/experience in performance management

  • Proficient in visualization tools (i.e., Tableau, PowerBI)

  • Experience in management reports at the corporate board and senior management level

  • Six Sigma certification

Salary Range:

$107,000.00 - $160,500.00
